This week, PC Riaz and PC Sulkey attended a local business premises in Castlefield following concerns raised around shoplifting.
While speaking with staff about the issues, officers observed on CCTV a male attempting to conceal items within his waistband and pockets. The officers acted immediately, detaining the male and recovering stolen goods.
Further checks revealed the individual was also wanted for burglary. He was arrested for both theft and burglary, later charged with both offences, and has been remanded to appear at the next available court.
This swift action demonstrates the value of close cooperation between local businesses and Greater Manchester Police. By working together, we can protect our community, support shop owners, and ensure offenders are brought to justice.
